Our 5-a-Side competition is a fun, fast-paced and exciting football format designed for players who want to stay active, enjoy more touches on the ball and keep playing during the off-season.
Played in a friendly and competitive environment, Queens 5-a-Side welcomes teams across a range of ages, genders and skill levels.
Whether you are joining with friends, returning with your team from a previous season or entering for the first time, this is a great opportunity to enjoy football, build confidence and be part of the Queens Park SC community.

Queens Park SC 5-a-Side is scheduled to run on Tuesday evenings during the off-season.
This is the day currently set aside for the competition, so teams interested in registering should make sure they are available to play on Tuesdays.
Final game times will depend on team registrations, age groups and overall competition numbers.
Miniroos – 4:30 pm to 6:00 pm
Juniors – 6:00 pm to 7:30pm

Teams will need to complete the registration form and provide the required team information. Payment details will be shared once your team entry has been confirmed.
Queens Park SC 5-a-Side is a team-based competition.
At this stage, individual player registrations are not available. Players are encouraged to organise a team before registering.
Age groups follow the same general format used in football competitions.
A player’s age group is usually based on the age they turn during the calendar year.
For example, if a player turns 10 during the year, they would usually play in the Under 10 age group, even if they are still 9 at the time of the competition.
Players may be able to play up an age group, depending on the competition structure and team suitability.
Playing down an age group requires approval from the organisers and will only be considered in specific circumstances.
Queens Park SC reserves the right to move teams or players into a more suitable age group or division to help create fair and enjoyable games.
If your team needs to forfeit, you must notify the organisers as early as possible.
Teams should provide their team name and age group when advising of a forfeit.
Late forfeits or no-shows may result in a points penalty.
Yes. Where possible, Queens Park SC 5-a-Side aims to give as many teams as possible the chance to experience finals football.
Depending on the number of teams in each age group, competitions may include finals, placing matches, Premier and Plate divisions, or other formats designed to keep the season fair and competitive.
Queens 5 A Side
Football Rules
Queens Park SC 5-a-Side follows a modified small-sided football format.
Key Rules
- Each team may have up to 5 players on the field at one time, including the goalkeeper.
- Teams may use interchangeable substitutes throughout the game.
- Substitutions must be made from the halfway line and can take place while the game is in play, as long as the player leaving the field is off before the replacement player enters.
- All players in a team must wear the same colour shirt.
- Goalkeepers must wear a different coloured shirt or bib so they can be clearly identified.
- Games are generally played in two halves, with a short half-time break.
- Teams must be ready to start on time. Late starts may result in reduced game time or further penalties.
- Goalkeepers may only handle the ball inside the goal circle.
- Outfield players may enter and play the ball inside the goal circle.
- If the ball goes out over the sideline, play restarts with a kick-in.
- If the ball goes out over the backline, play restarts with either a corner or a goalkeeper restart.
- There is no offside.
- Slide tackles are not permitted.
- Players must not play the ball from the ground when it is unsafe or when other players are nearby.
- Opposing players must give the required distance for free kicks, kick-ins and kick-offs.
- Referee decisions are final.
- Arguing with referees, abusive behaviour or poor sportsmanship may result in a yellow card, red card, suspension or further action.
- A yellow card may result in a player being temporarily sent from the field.
- A red card will result in the player being sent off for the remainder of the match and may include an automatic suspension.
- Only registered players listed for a team may play in finals, unless approval has been given by the organisers.
- Teams will be penalised for fielding ineligible players.
- No player, spectator or team member is allowed to swing on or misuse goals or equipment.
- In junior fixtures, where scores become uneven, the referee may adjust player numbers to help keep the game fair, enjoyable and competitive.
- If a team is losing by 4 or more goals, the referee may allow the losing team to add one additional player, taking them to 6 players on the field.
- If the losing team scores while using the additional player, that extra player must be withdrawn and the team will return to 5-a-Side.
- If the score difference becomes 6 or more goals, the referee may allow the losing team to add a second additional player, taking them to 7 players on the field, where available.
- Junior player number adjustments are intended to avoid blow-out scores and support a positive playing experience for all players.
- Any rules not specifically listed will generally follow the standard laws of football, adapted for the 5-a-Side format.

The competition format may vary depending on the number of teams registered in each age group.
Queens Park SC 5-a-Side aims to provide a fair, enjoyable and competitive season for all teams.
General Format
- Teams will play a series of weekly games across the season.
- Fixtures will be created based on the number of teams in each group.
- Some teams may have a bye round depending on the structure of the competition.
- Age groups may be combined if required.
- Teams may be moved between divisions or groups to ensure more balanced games.
- For younger age groups, the focus will be on participation, development and enjoyment.
- Scores and standings may be managed differently for junior competitions to support a positive playing environment.
- Fixtures may be adjusted during the season where needed.
Finals Format
Finals will depend on the number of teams in each group.
Where possible, competitions may include:
- Quarter finals
- Semi finals
- Grand finals
- Premier and Plate divisions
- Placing matches
The final format will be confirmed once team numbers are known.

Queens Park SC 5-a-Side is built on fun, respect, inclusion and community.
We want every player, coach, referee, parent, volunteer and spectator to feel welcome and safe.
All participants are expected to behave respectfully and support a positive playing environment.
Queens Park SC will not tolerate:
- Abuse towards referees, players, coaches, volunteers or spectators
- Racism
- Homophobia
- Transphobia
- Misogyny
- Ableism
- Body shaming
- Threatening behaviour
- Physical or verbal abuse
- Discrimination of any kind
Any behaviour that goes against the spirit of the competition may result in warnings, suspensions, removal from the venue or exclusion from the competition.
If you have any concerns about behaviour during the competition, please contact the organisers so the matter can be addressed appropriately.
Queens 5 A Side IS ONE OF THE MOST AFFORDABLE COMPETITION AROUND STARTING AS LOW AS $70 A PLAYER.
The cost per team is $560 (inc. GST) for a 10-week season. This includes referees, winner trophies, and runner-up medals!
